Act I: (Led by Class #1)
Narr 1: Keen
Once upon a time, in a faraway land, there lived a girl named Cinderella. Her mother taught Cinderella to value kindness above everything else. Sadly, she died, and Cinderella's father married a woman who was not kind like her mother. This woman had two daughters of her own who were both selfish and cruel. Then, saddest of all, Cinderella’s father died, leaving her with only her step-family to care for her.
Narr 2: Joseph
The stepmother treated Cinderella terribly, forcing her to do all the housework and to wait on her and her daughters hand and foot. Cinderella wore rags and was not allowed to go out or have friends, while her own daughters wore fine clothes and lived in luxury. Nevertheless, Cinderella remained kind and gentle, making dear friends of the birds and the mice.
Sister 1: Zoiya (running in from outside)
Mama! This is it! Our invitations to the ball are finally here!
Sister 2: Sahara (running over to see)
Let me see!
Stepmom: Amelia A
It says, “Your daughters are hereby invited to the ball to meet the prince.”
Music starts : Song 1 - So So Sad for You
Mean sisters: Zoiya, Sahara
That’s us, mama!
Cinderella: Rowan G
And me too?
Stepmom: Amelia A
Not YOU!
Sisters: Zoiya, Sahara
Yeah, not you!
Stepmom: Amelia A
You have too much work to do!
Sisters: Zoiya, Sahara
Yeah, you have too much work to do!

Now you get to work you lazy wretch! We’re going to town to get some accessories.
Sister 1: Zoiya
Yeah, lazy face. We’re going to accessorize for the ball.
Sister 2: Sahara
Yeah crazy face. And plus we’re gonna buy stuff!
(Stepmom and Sister 1 look at Sister 2 like she’s not very smart)
Stepmom: Amelia A
You girls come on!
(They exit stage left. Cinderella starts sweeping the stage. All students in the choir put on the mouse and bird puppets [from here forward, “mice” in the script means a mouse or a bird. Any line for mice can be spoken by a mouse or a bird unless specifically noted]. A few mice go to the mics. While Cinderella sweeps, she periodically passes out morsels of bread to the mice on the risers.)
Mouse 1: Demetris
Boy are they mean!
Mouse 2: Juniper
How could anybody with a heart be that mean to Cinderella? She’s nicer than anybody I know!
Mouse 3: Roby
Who said they’ve got hearts?! I bet they don’t even have ONE heart between them!
Mouse 4: Lukas
I bet they don’t even have HALF of a heart.
Mouse 2: Juniper
Not even some little bitty heart crumbs.
Mouse 4: Lukas
I remember Cinderella’s mom. She had the biggest heart on the planet. She taught her daughter to be kind.
Cinderella: Rowan
Oh how I miss my mom. She used to say, “meanness is darkness, kindness is light, friends who are faithful forever shine bright.”
Mouse 1: Demetris
Yep. Cinderella is as kind as they come. She’s a friend to the end!
Mouse 3: Roby
And no matter what those mean old alley cats do, they can’t seem to break her spirit. Cinderella will always be a star to us!
(Music starts)

Act II scene 1: (led by Class #2 - with a new Cinderella, Stepmom and Sisters)
(Stepmom and sisters come in from stage left with packages. Cinderella is sweeping the stage in front of the risers..)
Stepmom: Chancellor
Wretched servant girl! Where are you? We have packages!
Sisters: Madelyn, Lilah
Yeah, we have packages!
(Cinderella walks toward them from behind. Stepmom begins talking before she sees her)
Cinderella: Rowan G
Here I am, Mommy dearest.
Stepmom: Chancellor
Something’s different around here.
Cinderella: Rowan G
It must be you. (pause) And them.
Stepmom: Chancellor
Hmmph.
Cinderella: Rowan G
Hmmph.
Sisters: Madelyn, Lilah
Hmmph..
Stepmom: Chancellor
(looking around as if inspecting Cinderella’s work)
Oh well… Uhhh. You’re working very fast. What’s going on in that sneaky little brain of yours?
(Sister 1 goes back toward the risers, finds the dress that the mice gave Cinderella, and runs back to the mic)
Sister 1: Madelyn
Mama, look at what I found! Cinderella thinks she’s going to the ball!
Sister 2: Lilah
Mama, you’re not gonna let her come with us to the ball are you?
Stepmom: Chancellor
Oh Cinderella has far too much work left to do. But here’s what we’ll do. We’ll take her dress with us to the ball - - IN PIECES!!!
(Stepmom and sisters each grab a part of the dress, which is velcroed together in three pieces, and they tear it apart. They run off in different directions with the pieces of Cinderella's dress. Cinderella runs crying behind the risers stage right.)
Narrator 3: Adelina
Heartbroken, Cinderella stayed out of sight until her stepmother and stepsisters had gone to the ball. Even though she was very sad, she finished her work quickly. The events of the day, and her whole life, were filling her thoughts.
(Cinderella sweeps in front of the risers periodically being comforted by the mouse or bird behind her. Stage crew brings instruments out to their positions on the floor. Once instruments are in position. Cue the players to go to the instruments.)

Cinderella: Clare
Oh, Fairy Godmother, Thank you so much for what you’ve done for me!
FGM: Olive P
I have only revealed what has been concealed, protected, for just the right time! But there’s something you must know:
(background music & sparkles come in)
This charm will hide your rags from sight
Until the clock declares midnight
But once the light of truth has shone
The beauty must then be your own
Cinderella: Clare
I understand, Fairy Godmother. Thank you, friends! Wish me love!
Mice: everyone
Bye Cinderella! We love you!
Narrator 4: Amelia J
The magic of the fairy godmother had provided an exquisite gown and beautiful glass slippers for her feet. But it only transformed Cinderella into her true self, free for a moment from the shackles of her bad life. Cinderella headed off to the ball to meet the Prince, now as beautiful on the outside as she was within.
(after this, everyone goes off stage. The instruments stay.)
Song 4: Sweet Music
Act II scene 2: (still led by Class #2)
King: Makely
Well Son, this is your big night. How do you feel?
Kevin: Liam
I don’t really know what to feel. It seems like everyone I meet wants something. People are selfish! Why should these people be any different?
Queen: Allyson R
There are no perfect people out there. But you need to marry soon, or it will your duty to marry princess Drusilla.
Kevin: Liam
I know, Mom. But she’s so mean. I don’t think she’s ever had a friend or been a friend. I couldn’t marry her.
King: Makely
Well you will marry her if you don’t find your bride here. We all have sacrifices to make. If you’re going to be a good king, you’d better get used to it.
Kevin: Liam
But how can anybody be a good king without a real trustworthy friend to share the job with?
Narrator 5: Harlem
Prince Kevin was in a terrible situation. The King and Queen of the neighboring kingdom had sent word that they expected prince Kevin to marry their daughter as a show of unity between the two countries. To refuse could mean war. That is, unless he was already married. The royal family only had a few short weeks to answer them, and the time was almost up.
Narrator 6: Teddy
Having grown up in the castle around the affairs of the kingdom, prince Kevin knew all about selfish, ambitious people. He had come to expect it. But wisdom had always warned him that a wise king needs someone truly trustworthy and good as his closest friend.
(sound fx of trumpet fanfare)
Court Heralds: Noah, A.J.
Citizens of our noble kingdom, welcome to the ball. You may enter and greet the royal family.
(Citizens begin to enter, bow, curtsy, and shake hands with the king, queen and prince. Some do funny things to show that they are star struck. As they pass the royal family, they go up onto the stage to the risers. Some go to their dance positions.)
Stepmom: Chancellor
Your majesties, our humble, devoted family is honored to meet you.
Sister 1: Madelyn
It’s the PRINCE!
Sister 2: Lilah
I know, isn’t he BEAUTIFUL?!
Sister 1: Madelyn
And rich!
Sister 2: Lilah
That’s what I said!
Stepmom: Chancellor
(attempting to cue the sisters to behave better)
Come on girls.
(sister 1 drags sister 2 up to the risers while she is steadily waving at the prince. They take their places with the other guests. Background dancing music starts. Everyone begins to dance and the prince stands at the microphones with the king and queen. At the cymbal swell in the music, Cinderella enters to oohs and aahs. The prince will immediately go to her, offer his hand and escort her to the microphone.)
Kevin: Liam
Hello.
Cinderella: Clare
Hello Mr. Prince.
Kevin: Liam
Please, call me Kevin. I - - I don’t think I’ve ever seen you before. I mean, I would remember. Are you new to our kingdom?
Cinderella: Clare
No, I’ve been here all my life.
Kevin: Liam
What’s your name?
Cinderella: Clare
You can call me … (she looks at her stepmom, surprised but glad that she doesn’t seem to recognize her), umm, Star.
Kevin: Liam
Star. That’s a good name for you. You light up the room.
(He pauses while keeping eye contact with her. Then he looks away.)
Usually there’s not much I like about these events … well besides -
Both: Liam, Clare
The music.
Kevin: Liam
You love music too?
Cinderella: Clare
Music is the closest thing to heaven on earth!
Kevin: Liam
Come tell me about it.
(Kevin takes Cinderella to the dance floor. The soloists go to the mics. The music will start in the key of C. Soloists 1 and 2 will sing the first verse in C and then students will play instruments. The key will change to Eb and the choir will join.)

Narrator 7: Henley
Cinderella talked and danced with Kevin for hours. Her step-family burned with envy. The magic kept them from recognizing her, but what was clear to everyone, especially the prince, was that Cinderella was the loveliest person at the party.
Narrator 8: Lyle
Just as prince Kevin was becoming convinced that he had found someone truly good, the clock began to strike midnight.
Cinderella: Clare
OH No! I have to go!
(clock chime sound fx. Cinderella takes off running. While the narrator reads the next line, she runs all the way out the door.)
Narrator 8: Lyle
Cinderella bolted toward the door, remembering the fairy-godmother’s warning.
(Prince Kevin is looking around confused. When she reaches the door. He realizes that he doesn’t know how to reach her.)
Kevin: Liam
Wait! How will I find you?
(Prince Kevin runs out of the door after her)
Narrator 8: Lyle
As she ran down the stairs of the palace, one of her glass slippers came off. The prince ran after her, but he was not fast enough. All he found was her crystal shoe.
(Show picture of Prince Kevin holding the crystal slipper on the stairs of the palace. All the guests leave through the same door.)
Song 5: Find Her
Act III scene 1 (led by Class #3)
(Prince Kevin and his two guards come out on stage. Everyone else is still in the hall)
Guard 1: Sam
Sire, we have asked everyone we know around the castle. No one has heard of this girl.
Kevin: Edward
She said she’s been here in our kingdom her whole life. Why would she lie about that?
Guard 2: Nala
She was beautiful inside and out, Prince. I don’t think she would lie to you. There must be a reason we haven’t found her. (pause why all three think) By the way - you look different.
Kevin: Edward
I feel different. (Pause to let the audience laugh. Kevin holds up the shoe) This is such a special shoe.
Guard 1: Sam
Maybe we should go to every house until we find the one that fits it.
Kevin: Edward
Hey, I like the sound of that. If the shoe fits, my search is over.
Narrator 9: Savannah
Prince Kevin and his soldiers began to travel through the kingdom searching for the girl who could fit the glass slipper.
(Kevin, Guard 1 and Guard 2 will go out into the audience. Guard 1 will hold the shoe and Guard 2 will approach audience members with the cordless mic.)
Guard 2: Nala
Greeting lovely citizen. Can you fit this shoe?
(Guard 1 will bend down, then stand back up and say)
Guard 1: Sam
Nope. It doesn’t fit. Let’s move on.
(The prince’s team will approach about 4 people around the auditorium. While they are doing this, the classes will quietly come back in and go to the risers. Once they are in place, Narrator 10 will speak. The prince’s team will remain in the audience, closer to the stage.)
Narrator 10: Lukas G
After many days of searching they still had not found her, or even any clues to who she might be. Prince Kevin knew he must return home soon. And that meant he would have to marry princess Drusilla the mean. Prince Kevin was discouraged and ready to give up. He didn’t expect very much as he came to the last house on his list. He had no idea that Cinderella was there in the attic.
Stepmom: Quincy
(looking out into the audience in the direction of the prince’s team)
Girls, girls! Come, come! The prince and his royal guards are coming up to our doorstep!
Sister 1: Olivia M
It’s the prince! He’s here for ME! I knew he’d come around!
Sister 2: Iris S
He’s not here for you, doe doe bird! He’s here for ME!
(The team comes back to the mic area as if coming up to their house.)
Stepmom: Quincy
Welcome to my home, prince! Please come in!
Guard 2: Nala
Greetings lovely citizen, can you fit this shoe?
Sister 1: Olivia M
I can fit that shoe!! If I have to cut some toes -
Sister 2: Iris S
Move outta the way!! Your knobbly toes got no business near that shoe! That’s MY SHOE!
(The guard tries the shoe on both of the sisters. Neither fits.)
Kevin: Edward
(looking around)
Is there anyone else here?
Stepmom: Quincy
No your highness. It’s just us three lovely citizens.
Kevin: Edward
I thought I heard something upstairs.
Stepmom: Quincy
That’s just a bunch of pesky mice and birds. No one else. Just us three. Sorry we couldn’t help you. Come on girls.
(Stepmom and sisters go up to the risers as if going in the house. Kevin and the guards are left alone at the mics.)
Kevin: Edward
I guess that's it. It’s getting dark. There’s no way to find her now. And I’m out of time.

Narrator 11: Mila C (from Peterson's group)
Prince Kevin and the guards were about to move on as the darkness fell over the land. He turned and noticed a glow coming from the attic window of the house. The guards boosted prince Kevin up to a lattice on the side of the house that was overgrown with vines. He grabbed on and climbed all the way to the attic.
Narrator 12: Van
He pushed the window open, climbed down into the room, and immediately recognized the beautiful person there.
Kevin: Edward
I’ve been looking for you all throughout the kingdom.
Cinderella: Charlotte
I’ve been locked in this attic. I knew somehow though, that you would find me.
Kevin: Edward
Now I wonder what will happen when you put your foot in this shoe?
(Special FX music starts here. Kevin put the shoe on her foot while the Narrator describes it. The magic dancers surround her like before.)
Narrator 12: Van
Cinderella slipped her foot into the glass slipper and the magic began to whirl and swirl around her all over again. There were sparkles and shimmers and flashes of light. Prince Kevin had no idea what to expect when it ended.
(The magic disappears and Cinderella is in the same clothes)
Cinderella: Charlotte
Well, I guess you’re going to have to accept me just the way I am.
Kevin: Edward
I can see that you are the same person you were at my castle. That’s exactly who I was looking for.
Narrator 12: Van
Prince Kevin and Cinderella lived happily ever after.
